Cropped Pink Sweater with Crystal Fringe
Pink cotton and merino wool sweater with vintage beaded fringe
“Years ago in Nashville I bought a length of sequined trim made in Italy. I didn’t know what I was going to make with it, but I just had to have it. The pale blues, pinks, opalescent cream, and silver…
Later, I added a row of swingy, sparkly fringe on the trim, created from vintage pastel pink, blue, and grey crystal beads repurposed from an antique necklace I found – and could not resist. I experimented with this fringe on different designs: The neckline of a silver silk dress, a handbag, a tan cashmere sweater … but it was never quite right. Until I found this.
Cut off to crop, sew the trim on the neckline, and … it’s perfect. I love everything about this piece, from the way it came together, to the way I styled it, to it’s fresh take on micro-sweaters, to the way it looks on our girl Megan.”
